My father's family came to Hawaii in the 1880s and my mom's family comes from Ireland so island life has always been an important part of my lineage.
I spent my childhood in Orange County, CA and studied international business at San Jose State University while working through college in IBM's legal department. It was an amazing time to be working in San Jose as it evolved into the heart of Silicon Valley. The years there molded my career through start up companies and later into the likes of Interwoven and Cisco Systems.
The Big Island had always been an escape where I enjoyed all of the outdoor and athletic opportunities, including participating in the Lavaman Triathlon. Eventually I decided to make the Big Island home and within a couple of weeks I had booked a one-way ticket, quit my job, packed a few bags and landed in Kona.
Almost immediately I found a new career in real estate at one of the most prestigious private communities in the world - Kukio Beach and Golf Club. Working exclusively within the gates of Kukio and later the private club of Kohanaiki provided a new appreciation for modern island architecture and design.
It's been more than a decade since I made my way home to the islands and my clients have trusted me with the purchase and/or sale of everything from ranch and land to coastal resorts. From single-family and multi-generational homes to commercial real estate. My business comes solely from referrals so I'm humbled to think that I've had a part in helping others make this stunning island a part of their personal history.
While I love life on Hawaii Island I haven't lost my sense of wonder about the rest of the world. Today I've been to 6 of the 7 continents and find experiencing different places, cultures, languages and foods helps with my appreciation of people but also helps me appreciate just how lucky I am to live in a "melting pot" like Hawaii. In my spare time, I volunteer in the emergency room at North Hawaii Community Hospital and help friends with their cattle ranches. I enjoy hiking, spending time at the beach and taking care of my Shetland pony / miniature horse and not-so miniature dogs. I hold a current private pilot certificate so I get to enjoy the wonders of Hawaii from in the water, on land and from the air.
